Building control chargesIn 1980 the Government decided that Local Authorities should make charges for carrying out their function of administering the Building Regulations under the Building Act. Shortly afterwards they initiated legislation which allowed other organisations (known as Approval Inspectors) to also carry out the function of administering the Regulations. They also make charges for the service they provide. The Building (Local Authority Charges) Regulations 1998 give us authority to set levels of charge for specified functions we carry out under the Principal Building Regulations. The Charges Regulations also require us to publish the Scheme of Charges under which the actual charges will be made, and this is available for inspection during normal office hours at the Council offices at 'Elmfield', New Yatt Road, Witney, OX28 1PB. Fees Increased In common with other businesses, we have to periodically review our charges in order to ensure that we comply with the statutory requirements imposed on us. It has been necessary to increase our fees for all applications received on or after 1st April 2008. Application Forms and fee information is now combined and available from the 'downloads' section of this page. |
