A personal search allows you to come into our Council Elmfield Offices and inspect the Local Land Charges Register yourself.
It is the responsibility of the person carrying out the personal search to identify the land/property and to make any note of information held on the register.
You can view our planning register, the development plan, and find out if any highways around the property are adopted. However, only the basic information that is required to be contained in these registers is available for inspection.
Other information held on publicly available registers, such as planning history, enforcement notices, conservation areas and public footpaths can be obtained through our reception team.
Please note that a personal search does not provide all the information given on a full search (LLC1 and CON29R).
Booking a personal search
To book an appointment call 01993 861420.
A personal search may be carried out on any weekday, in half-hourly appointments from 10 to 11.30am and 2 - 2.30pm. Bookings must be made by 9.30am on the working day prior to the appointment.
A site location plan, clearly showing the exact extent of the search area must be provided at the same time.
If you require any CON29 data, this must be made clear at the time you book your appointment and the CON29 Data Request Form must be completed and sent in with your site plan.
Both the site plan and the CON29 Data Request Form must be received in Local Land Charges by 0930 on the working day prior to the appointment. Failure to provide this information will result in your appointment being cancelled.
What you will get:
You will be provided with a consolidated report containing all of the Local Land Charges Register entries and all other information requested. Information which is not available from the Council, or which is contained in paper registers, will be indicated in the report.
The search report is for inspection only and is not to be removed from the Council offices.
Although we make every effort to eliminate errors, you should be aware that it is your responsibility to check the data and be satisfied that all is correct before you leave the offices, as queries cannot be dealt with later.
Insurance
Local authority searches are fully covered by indemnity insurance which is open-ended (i.e. not time limited). This may not be true of personal searches or searches carried out by private search companies - please check the conditions of the insurance. Interpretation of the information in a personal search is your own responsibility.
Fees and charges - visit the Local land charges web page.
