Driver Licence Renewals
You will need to renew your licence every 3 years.
What you will need
- A recent colour passport type photograph of yourself
- Medical Report (if applicable) (must be less than 4 months old at date of application)
- DBS Certificate (if applicable) (must be less than 1 month old at date of application) (be registered on the DBS Update Service)
- Tax Check Code (Drivers who have been registered with another Local Authority/Renewals) (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/complete-a-tax-check-for-a-taxi-private-hire-or-scrap-metal-licence)
- Right to Work Share Code (https://www.gov.uk/prove-right-to-work)
- DVLA check code (https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence)
- A credit or debit card to make payment
Safeguarding training course
All existing licence holders must attend safeguarding refresher training every 3 years. Failure to undertake the training within the specified timescales will lead to the suspension of your licence until such time as the training has been completed and a certificate has been provided to the Licensing Team.

Costs

If your licence has expired, you’ll need to apply for a new licence at the full cost.
You can renew your licence at a reduced fee if you return the application form at least 7 days before your licence expires.
It is your responsibility to check the expiry date of your licence. We will not send you a reminder or any other documents. Please refer to our step by step guide to ensure you still meet the relevant criteria to hold a valid licence, e.g. medical assessment.
