Flying the flag for Armed Forces Day
We are raising the Armed Forces Day flag on Monday 19 June as part of the lead-up to the national celebrations on Saturday 24 June.
This year marks the ninth Armed Forces Day, an annual national campaign to show support for the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, including currently serving troops, service families, reservists, veterans and cadets.
Cllr Norman MacRae MBE, Chairman at West Oxfordshire District Council’s is raising the flag at the Council's Woodgreen building. Members of the public, councillors and staff are all welcome to join him.
Cllr MacRae said, “By flying the flag we are showing our appreciation for the outstanding contribution made by all our Armed Forces as they work to protect our country and contribute to international peace and security. In West Oxfordshire we have close ties with RAF Brize Norton and staff and officers stationed here are also our neighbours and friends.”
