Infrastructure spending and funding

Infrastructure funding

Infrastructure needed to support new development in West Oxfordshire is funded through a number of means. It is often funded through planning obligations, in the form of Section 106 (S106) contributions.

We intend to introduce a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) which will sit alongside S106 contributions. We will also look at other opportunities from different sources of funding, for example, government funding.

The District Council’s future spending priorities for new and enhanced infrastructure in West Oxfordshire are set out in an Infrastructure Delivery Plan. The West Oxfordshire Infrastructure Delivery Plan (IDP) 2016 (opens as a PDF) is in the process of being updated.

If you are a town/parish council, please contact the S106 team on [email protected] for the following information:

  • an overview of funds available in your area
  • contact details of specialist council officers (sports, public art, etc.) to help you with your project
  • assistance with completing the S106 request form

To make a claim, you will need to fully complete and return the form to [email protected]. Please make sure to also read the guidance notes attached to the form.

Infrastructure reporting

The Infrastructure Funding Statement (IFS) is a summary of all financial and non-financial developer contributions collected and spent by us.

The most recent West Oxfordshire Infrastructure Funding Statement covers the period 1 April 2022 to 31 March 2023 and can be viewed below along with the previous IFSs for 2019/20, 2020/21 and 2021/22.
